I am in charge in the hardware design and prototyping of the Babylook Wearable. I have gotten some experience working with students in industrial and product design major in China Academy of Art. Yet, this is my first time to make a product which is to be launched into the market.
A lot of pilot work was carried out as an IT company with hardware development experience by VIV. To get a good industrial design, I researched the other baby care device and wearables in China and the US market, the components needed to satisfy the service requirement of Babylook.
For the production, I contact Mainland OEM and ODM for hardware development quotation. I am making the prototype for 3D printing using Google SketchUp.

Difference of smart wearable on babies and Adults
Baby’s wrist/ arm is thins and soft
The diameter of arm is shorter
A baby wearing a normal size smart hand band leaves to much gap before the device and the arm, and pressure is only appliced on specific points, undermining the comfort of wearing.
Therefore, the length of device is restricted
And, hence, the shape of the device is tend to be square or circular.
Restriction set on design of the hardware
The length of the device is restricted;
The device has to be short to cover the skin of baby
